PASSAIC COUNTY INMATES ARE BEING HOUSED IN THE BERGEN AND HUDSON COUNTY JAIL
Officials from the Counties of Bergen and Passaic reached an agreement at the end of 2021 in which Bergen County assumed the custody and care of all Passaic County inmates. Under the terms of the agreement, Bergen County receives $104 per day for each inmate housed at the Bergen County Jail for the first two years of the agreement. According to news reports, the rate increases over the 10-year contract. Passaic County can transfer up to 700 inmates to Bergen County.
Bergen County entered into a shared services agreement with Hudson County to assume responsibility for the female inmate population for Bergen and Passaic County.

The Passaic County NJ Jail was a medium-security detention center located at 11 Marshall St Paterson, NJ, which is operated locally by the Passaic County Sheriff's Office and held inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates were here for less than two years. Passaic County accepted inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Paterson Police Department who do not have their long-term lock-up.

- Religious Volunteers Program
Community Release Center (CRC)
The Community Release Center offers alternatives to incarceration for the citizens of Passaic County. These alternatives include the Sheriff's Labor Assistance Program (SLAP) and Home Detention and Bail Enhanced GPS, which are a part of our Electronic Monitoring Program. CRC also provides services to the municipalities of Passaic County. These include the Clean Parks Program and emergency snow removal for seniors who need assistance after snowstorms.
